During my annual holiday visit to my birth city Semarang, a friend took me to Restoran Tegal in Thamrin Square inside the Thamrin Mall. It was hot and humid day and he ordered straightaway a Vegetable Juice to quench my thirst. It's the most refreshing juice I ever tasted and I ordered a second one, but my friend said try Ice Doger. It is made from young coconut meat and its juice with crushed ice and coconut syrup. Both juices tasted so amazing and very refreshing...... For dinner he ordered BBQ Fish, fried Prawns, Goat Satay ( sate kambing muda ) and BBQ Chicken. The last dish is marinated with seasoning from a well guarded family recipe. Needless to say I came out from the restoran with a big smile and bulging tummy but my wallet was almost intact as the prices are so reasonable. If you happen in or around Semarang, you should make a time to taste the dishes of this small restoran. You won't regret to spend 1 or 2 hours of your precious time. Cheers.
